The International Court of Justice (ICJ), principal judicial organ of the UN, holds public hearings from 2 to 6 December 2019 in the cases concerning Appeal Relating to the Jurisdiction of the ICAO Council under Article 84 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates v. Qatar) and Appeal Relating to the Jurisdiction of the ICAO Council under Article II, Section 2, of the 1944 International Air Services Transit Agreement (Bahrain, Egypt and United Arab Emirates v. Qatar) at the Peace Palace in The Hague, the seat of the Court. The hearings focus solely on the merits of the cases. Session held under the presidency of Judge Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, President of the Court. The CourtÕs role is to settle, in accordance with international law, legal disputes submitted to it by States (its Judgments are final and binding) and to give advisory opinions on legal questions referred to it by authorized UN organs and agencies.

“Ekziston një bazë e arsyeshme për të besuar se si krimet e supozuara të luftës ashtu edhe krimet kundër njerëzimit janë kryer në Ukrainë,” tha Karim AA Khan, prokurori i ICC.
“Qëllimi im është që ky hetim të përfshijë gjithashtu çdo krim të ri të supozuar që bie në juridiksionin e zyrës sime që janë kryer nga çdo palë në konflikt në çdo pjesë të territorit të Ukrainës”, shtoi më tej ai.
